Wildcard? broadens results
Replace a single character for the symbol ? to search for keywords with all letter variations in that place

Booleans combine search terms- usually to narrow results, but some booleans combine terms to broaden results. Each database is set up to work with certain booleans. Most academic databases use these, but check the database help
